The Municipal Government

The code of the Village of Kiryas Joel reads much like that of any other municipal government. There are provisions for the election of local officials, fire and safety regulations, housing codes, zoning, traffic safety, property maintenance, noise, protection of the environment, water and sewer, and waste management, amongst others.

The municipal government consists of an elected mayor, board of trustees, village administrator, village clerk, village treasurer, planning board, zoning board, constable, code enforcement officer, building inspector, water superintendent, village attorney, and the village engineer. Kiryas Joel also has directors of specific services such as the director of the Housing Authority, Office of Community Services, Fire Chief, Sanitation Superintendent, Public Safety Director and Superintendent of Public Works.

Village Officials meet regularly to deal with the myriad of issues facing municipal government.
